Blog about bucal fat removal NYC questions and answers by Dr. Mesa
Patient question: I have a more round complexion to my face my lower cheeks and around my jawline make my face seem very big. I was told the cause was my buccal pad fat but after researching it it seems like it could be perioral fat and/or fat/loose skin around my jawline that offsets my face..any suggestions on what may be the best thing to do to get me a more chiseled jawline and less puffy cheek areas? Roughly what would the price range be or what would you charge? I was told around 2200 for just buccal pads.. Dr. Mesa's answer:
Male patients with round face and now well defined neck could benefit from both buccal fat removal, chin liposuction ( submental liposuction) and mild upper cheek bone enhancement. Buccal fat removal corrects the fullness of the lower anterior cheeks, thus slimming the face. Chin liposuction, when performed all along the jaw line helps to remove the double chin and enhance the jaw line thus giving the jaw a very defined, sharp and masculine look Cheek enhancement with soft tissue fillers like voluma, when performed with buccal fat removal, helps to achieve a V shape of the face, thus creating a chiseled look when combined with buccal fat removal. BUCCAL FAT REMOVAL NYC QUESITON: I would love to have a smaller, more defined face. I wanted to get a mini face lift awhile back but the doctor I went to convinced me otherwise. What is should I do? Buccal fat removal is a plastic surgery procedure that removes the fulness of the anterior lower cheeks ( chipmunk cheeks) and therefore helps a round shape face to become slimmer and v-like shape. However, to change a round to v shape face it is necessary to have good cheek bones. If a patient doesn't have good cheek bones, they should be augmented/ enhanced with soft tissue fillers like voluma or cheek augmentation.
Patients interested in buccal fat removal should make a consultation with a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon specialized in plastic surgery procedures of the face John Mesa, MD Harvard Trained and Triple Fellowship Trained Board Certified Colombian Cosmetic Plastic Surgeon Buccal Fat Removal Specialist New York City - New Jersey www.drmesa.com NYC: (212) 203 7745 NJ: (973) 486-4862 BUCCAL FAT REMOVAL QUESTION: I have always wanted to have more prominent cheekbones (like Angelina Jolie's cheekbones). What would you recommend? Can buccal fat removal work in this case? I am 21 years old. ANSWER:
Buccal fat removal is a plastic surgery procedure that removes the fullness of the anterior lower cheeks and accentuates the cheek bones in patient candidates. In some patients, in order to have more prominent cheek bones, the buccal fat removal procedure should be complemented with cheek enhancements (augmentation) with either fillers or implants, In my practice, very often I perform cheek augmentation with Voluma soft tissue filler at the same time of buccal fat removal to both give a more sculpted chiseled face and have prominent cheek bones. I'm 34 and even losing close to 40 lbs hasn't helped. I'm tired of my baby face. Would I be a good canidate for this procedure? I also have a weak chin. Lol. If I had my way I'd correct my ptosis, bridge nose, cheeks and chin but unfortunately I'm not rich and apparently I'm not the best looking guy genetics wise. DR. MESA'S ANSWER:
Huge cheeks ( chubby cheeks) are usually caused by a fat pocket in the face called buccal fat. The size of buccal fat is usually is genetically determined and tend to be resistant to weight loss with diet and exercise. Buccal fat removal is the plastic surgery procedure that removes the fullness of the anterior lower cheeks ( fat face), thus making the face slimmer and more countered. In men buccal fat removal helps to achieve a more chiseled and more masculine facial appearance. I want to address the fat under my chin with liposuction but I am wondering if buccal fat removal would also help improve the contour of my face. DR MESA'S ANSWER:
Buccal fat is a pocket of fat in the cheeks that makes the face to look fat or round. Buccal fat tends to be resistant to weight loss with diet and exercise. Buccal fat removal is a plastic surgery procedure that removes the chubby cheeks (fullness of the lower cheeks) thus making the face slimmer and contouring the face Fullness under the chin won't be improved with buccal fat removal but with chin liposuction. Patients interested in buccal fat removal should make a consultation with a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon specialized in plastic surgery procedures of the face Question: "I struggle with chubby cheeks, often referred to as chipmunk cheeks, I was wondering whether buccalfat removal was an option as I am still at a rarely young age?" Buccal fat removal is a great option to address chubby cheeks or chipmunk cheeks
Lower anterior cheeks are usually genetically predetermined and most of the time they are resistant to decrease in size with diet or exercise. Buccal fat removal is a procedure, through very small incisions inside the mouth, removes the buccal fat and allows the face to achieve a chiseled, V shape face appearance. #buccalfat #buccalfatremoval #buccalfatexcision #chipmunkcheeks #chubbycheeks The relationship of buccal fat removal and "aging well" depends on the structure of the cheek bones.
Patients with good chin cheek bone definition tend to age "very well" after buccal fat removal. However, patients with poor cheek bone definition tend to age not that well. Therefore, the problem is not the buccal fat removal surgery but the lack of addressing the non-prominent cheek bones at the time of the surgery. |
